I recently replaced my speedo because the odometer had quit. I bought it from a member who had parted out a wrecked 97 chassis cab. Every now and then, particularly when cold, the needle goes to about 70 when I turn on the key, and will stay there after starting for a minute or two. If I don't start the engine, just leave the key on, the needle will not drop back to zero. Anyone else have this happen? Should I ignore it or start looking for another speedo?

Games,

I don't know if Dodge has an instrument cluster problem, but my wife's Buick Rendezvous had the same probme you're experiencing. We went to the local Buick dealer and was told that Buick knows about this problem and would replace the whole instrument cluster. I don't remember just what was causing this, but since the replacement she's had no problems whatsoever. It wouldn't hurt to talk to your local dealer's service manager and see if there's a history - even if you have to bear the total cost at least you might find out what's going on.
