I ordered a 07 qc w/6. 7 and auto six speed. How long will it take to get a vin, build it,and ship? This is the eighth truck i bought from my dealer,he gave me 5k off sticker,3500 rebate, and offered me 28k for my truck which is a 05qc 4x4 slt w/only 22k. It is in absolute showroom cond. W/ Kore suspension system($1600)remote start/alarm system,s/s nerf bars,s/s upper and lower grilles, and a few hundred in misc. accessories. Could i do better? And lastly are there any other rebates out there?I have read a couple of posts about customer loyalty, farm bureau, and what about being a member of TDR?Sorry for the long post.

It will probably depend on the dealership and their allocation of trucks... how many they order and sell. When did you order as I thought the cut off for ordering '7. 5's was 5/18 unless it changed again. As to VIN and build that all depends on what you ordered as it looks like they like to build in groups of specific models and options. In other words they like to do several 3500 Quad Cabs in a row or several 3500 SRW Mega Cabs in a row.

To get a pretty accurate value for your trade I would go to Kelly Blue Books site and enter your truck info. It will give you pricing for selling it outright or trading in based on the condition... Excellent (show room), good and fair. It may not ask about or figure in some after market add on's but it pretty easy to add those on yourself.

Join the Farm Bureau somewhere and you can get another $500 off. It cost me $90 in Oregon and I had to be a member 30 days before I could get the Dodge coupon. Adam and Dishman Dodge :) offer TDR members another $1,000 off, not sure how many other dealers are offering the additional $1,000. I also got a full tank of diesel :) when I picked up the truck which is worth probably another $100 depending on where you are at. Not to knock whoever you ordered from but they should of at least told you about the farm bureau discount or any other discounts that Dodge offers but doesn't really advertise. In my opinion a good salesman and dealership will let you know about any and all the ways they can save you as much money as possible. My pricing was based on the sheet that Adam sent me that had all the options I wanted with the MSRP and invoice pricing all clearly listed. Did they give you anything that showed MSRP and invoice costs on what you are ordering? Are you getting accessories added at the dealership? Are they discounting those?

I fetched $26,500 on April 13th in a private sale for my 2003 Dodge RAM 2500 Quad Cab Sport (pics in gallery). You could maybe do a little better than $28k if you sold yours outright; then re-negotiate your purchase outright without a trade.

For a point of reference, I ordered my truck on March 30 and will receive it sometime next week. So for me it was over 8 weeks.

Hi marksp:

The timeline looked like this for me:

3/30 - placed order

3/31 - changed it to include the sunroof

4/2 - order no longer existed in the system

4/3 - order reappeared (they have seen this before with the system) and included VON

4/6 - VIN received, but then sat with no change in status until 5/4

5/4 - status changed to D1 and ESD (estimated ship date) of 5/15

5/15 - truck went to Framing

5/17 - informed by dealer that truck is on railcare #TTGX985444

6/1 - railcar arrives at Spokane at 5:50AM

6/1 - railcar status shows empty at 6:30PM and "load delivered to industry"

BTW: I live in Snoqualmie

great info. I'm in "D1" status with ship date of 6/20. Based on this timeline, I should target delivery around July 6th, give or take with the holiday.

Appreciate the data, very helpful.

My truck took 6 weeks from the time I ordered it. You are always better off selling your old truck on your own then trading. Put a large FOR SALE sign on the left side back window and drive it everywhere you go.

(1) Why are you getting rid of your "showroom condition" truck for a new one with all the new electronics and emissions stuff? Are you feeling OK?

(2) You can do better by $2K via a private sale of your truck ... if you want to take the time. Dealer offer will always be lower for the convienence of a quick sale.

Best way to buy is to seperate the two deals, new truck/old truck. I start with the "I have no trade-in" to get the best deal, then start the "what will you give me for XXX" after the deal on the new rig is set.

However, on the Dodge, my company has the "Premier Patrners" relationship with DC. We are a large fleet purchaser so the employees get this deal. It was sweet! No haggling at all. You look at the invoice and there is a line with PP on it. On my truck it was $5500 less than list. You also get any incentive offered by DC on top of that. When I bought my 06 it was $5000 to the dealer. Total off sticker was $10500 without a single hassle. If you're ordering you can go to a special site for the Premier Partners and build your truck to see what the discount will be.

We have the same deal with Ford called the X plan.

Is the PP same as an employee discount? I gather that's not available to the average Joe.

Some of us with early '03's have the "Standard Output" (SO) motor and the last of the 47RE's which are starting to fail so we're dealing with throwing $5k at the transmission + exhaust brake + ... or applying that $ towards a new truck. The choice is clear for me.

One of the few good things about living in the state of Washington is that we pay sales tax on the net difference between trade-in value and new vehicle cost. As a result, you'd have to sell your vehicle for at least 10% more than what the dealer would give to make it worth the effort in going the private party sales route, FYI. Oh, and no state income tax is sort of nice as well ;)

Join the Nevada Farm Bureau for $15. 00. They don't care where you live. Do it as soon as possible because the $500. 00 rebate is only available after you have been a member for 30 days

No, the employee discount is a little better in price than the PP. Basically, the PP price is the Factory Wholesale Price (FWP) less a certain percent.

For me it was invoice less 1%. The invoice price is slightly lower than the FWP.

Update: my truck is still at the railyard in Spokane. It can take up to three business days before it arrives at the dealer. Probably should factor that into your timeline as well. Very frustrating!
