Am really considering an 06 with 0%. I have an 03 QC SB 4X4 with the 6speed.

I really want a long bed and would like to give the auto a shot. Do the 06 48REs have both the tow/haul and the overdrive lockout? Do they shift better than in the past. Longevity?

Thanks,

Subby

Subby they do have tow/haul mode and you can lockout overdrive by pushing the button twice. As far as shifting I don't know, I'm still waiting on mine.

Test drive an 06' and use minimum throttle off the line and see if they've cured the infamous 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-3-4 shift. Mine does it all the time if I don't give enough throttle.

Never experienced that in my 05... have you had it serviced at all, or are you on the original fluid?

I've only got 1600 miles on my '05 so far, but I've never experienced any problems with shifting. I find they are smooth under light acceleration and crisp when getting on it. Minor complaint is when towing and it needs to downshift, it drops out of overdrive AND lock up torque converter both, then almost immediately shift back into one of them.

Mine did that, but doesen anymore... .

Disconnect the batteries positive connections... . wait an hour..... and reconnect, drive it..... for the first drive, be normal on the throttle... not light..... seems to have cured mine... .

Others say to do the above + turn key on (dont start)... . and slowly push the gas pedal to the floor and slowly release the turn the key off..... this didnt work for me, but the above did... . absolutely doesnt do the 1-2-1-2-1-2-3-4... . good luck

Subby,

I am in the same boat ,I wanted long bed also,But I figure if I do not put a tool box on this bed The bed will be about same size and for plywood I will just leave the tail gate down. as for tool boxes I am looking into the mopar set up in the back of sales book with boxes on the side.

and now that the auto is availible with exhaust brake I will give it a shot.

They gave me 0% plus $1,000. I ordered 2/04/06.

Was this on a mega or quad cab? They often have un-advertised rebates, on the website it only shows $2500 (quad cab) OR 0. 0.

My dealer said something about 2. 8% for up to 84 months, don't know it that allows you to use all the rebates or not. I will find out tomorrow.

Don't know what to tell you guys, like I said I got 0% with $1,000 rebate. The salesman said if there was a better incentive before my truck came in I would get that, but it would never be less than what I got. It is a quad cab.

Hrmm, interesting. The trans may have learned the light throttle skip up to 2nd when its not ready just yet for that shift and then just repeats it.

My 03 did that and same for my 05, only on a very light pedal accel with slight incline it would grab 2nd too early and go back to 1st just for a moment then 2nd stays a hold till 3rd and so on. I will try that relearn and see what happens, Thanks.

Seems they dropped the rebate a little. It was 2500 or 0% a week ago (thats what the dodge site said, edmonds site, and 2 dealers). Whoever got the 0 and 1000 got a good deal from the dealer.

no shifting problems on my 06 for almost 5k now... ... i have shifted it manually as well as let the auto do the work..... I love that it has a TOW MODE plus the O/D LOCKOUT both.

I truthfully have not had any of the issues I read about previous years with my truck such as bad shifting, poor ABS, poor mileage, terrible heater controls in cab, noisy cab, torn weather stripping, leaks, hopping of axle, etc.

I also got on dirt road yesterday and punched it and left two nice tire digs for about 50 yds before my speed caught up to the tire rotation... . in 4wd hi.

I LUV MY TRUCK>. >>>LOL Will love her better after the Nitto Terra Grapplers go on in three days..... I add the Bushwhacker fender flares and decide what I am doing next. LOL
