Here I am

Have you pulled more than one trailer?

Thanks, TDR Staff

Whats your truck weight?

Receiver hitch, which is best

How many trailers at once have you pulled with your Ram?
I've saw this this year. A Ram pulling two goose neck trailers. As far as I know that is still illegal in this state.
You can only pull two trailers in this state if its a 5th wheel camper and small boat behind it.

Ive had 6 behind my truck on several occasions, 4 the moast on a road. Caution, they dont track nice and straight when they get that long. Backroads get awefull narrow when it starts to snake down the road.
Had 4 hay wagons several times empty.
Had 4 graviety wagons, also empty.
Had 6 graviety wagons in the fields, also empty.
I aint about to try to pull that many wagons full. That would be more than I could pull without some weight on the rear end. Also braking is trickey enough empty. A sudden stop, and they start to jacknife each other.
Also, I think I was over any length limit Indiana has, but it was for a mile down a backroad. No one realy cares at 2am.

We have a 62 foot limit here in Nebraska; so you can put a trailer on back of a bed mounted hitched trailer (fiver or gooseneck) as long as the total length stays under 62 feet.

The neatest thing I've seen though is a dodge p/u delivering those big grain trailers (16 wheeler sized trailers). Looked pretty neat going down the road with that huge trailer on it. I talked to the guy on the CB a while. Apparently they're all Aluminum so aren't terribly heavy when emtpy; but I think it was still nearly 20,000 lbs.

Yep, a 29' Hitchhiker II 5th wheel trailer with a factory installed rear boat hitch and a heavy Ranger bass boat. Not now--I had all the experience I wanted pulling "trains". Traded the 5th wheel and sold the boat.

I run a tandem rig, pulling a 29' 5th wheel camper and a 16' boat. Total leight is around 66' and about a total weight of 14000#. It all tows like a dream, and would never consider a tow behind again. Yea I know I am a foot over legal in Michigan, got to get the boat trailer shorter #ad

1985 DODGE 1 ton Crew Cab(imported from California with no rust) W/8' box converted to 4X4 in 1999. Converted to a non-intercooled 1991 Cummins Turbo diesel & 5 speed Getrag in 2000(wife can't drive a stick :). Freshly rebuilt and balanced Cummins. Rebuilt Injector pump and tweaked. 4:10 gears, limited slip rear end, 205 transfer case, 16" Goodyear GSA Wranglers and LE Package and a Sony CD Stereo. Next add-on some “Banks” toys ! Wish Dodge would build a new Crew Cab in 1 ton. Last year for the Crew Cab was 1985. If you want to know why I did all of this, 2 kids, one on the way and I can't stand Ford and Chevy. I have pulled two bumper hitch trailers in tandem. This experience leaves me with the following observations/recommendations:
1)Empty is a piece of cake.
2)Loaded is very sensitive to weight
distribution. (your shorts may need more
frequent laundry if this is
overlooked)
3)Remember, when the weather turns bad, its
always the semi's pulling doubles that
get upside down in the ditches first.
There's a reason, its not coincidental.

I pull a 32 foot 5th wheel and MasterCraft Ski boat or Baja Bug total length 74 feet. I now have a 34 foot fifth wheel and plan to pull at least the Baja I just might squeek under 75 feet. I will try to scan some old pictures of my 93 in tandam tow.

Just returned from hunting with my 32' 5th wheel and my Suzuki Samuri behind it. 60 feet in length and @ 12,000 pounds. Tows like a dream at 65 to 70 mph. Over 70 the Samuri starts to "hunt" a little.

Yes, but not with the Dodge.
I pulled a loaded 1991 peterbilt double bunk with a 40' Ravens dump trailer (80,000++lbs) with my Mack and 30' Fruehauf dump trailer, which was at 80K+ lbs.
I dont know the overall length, but I'd guess it to be at least 120 feet, and over 170,000 lbs. Glad there was no law men around!!
Only had to go a few miles. The little 300 mack engine, and 5 speed sure did work that day.

My friend, Lance Groft, from Vegas, regularly tows 2 trailors from Vegas to St George and Cedar City, Utah and back with his '94 w/auto. He is in the outdoor advertising business (Searchlight Advertising). Both trailers are tongue pulls with the first being a tandom axel, weighing around 8000 lbs, around 18' in length, which has a 60" WWII searchlight and diesel generator mounted on it. The second is a single axel SkyTracker 4 head and diesel generator, weighing in at around 2000 lbs, and around 10' in length. I believe he's also towed this combo from Vegas to SLC and back at least once. All his lights are trailer mounted with exception of one mounted on an early '80s Chev truck (used very little), so he does lots of towing.

Quite often I have pulled two trailers. The last time was a 8ftx24ft. gooseneck with a jeep and two deer blinds on it, there was also several concrete blocks on it. Hooked to that trailer was a 5x10 with a Honda 4wheeler in it. No problems at all except for the stares from other people.
