MaxBrake Brake Controller

Has anyone had any experience with this brake controller? Loooks like it would be similar to the Brakesmart, but cheaper.

How easy is installation? What about different trailers/different weights and not locking up the brakes, etc.

Thanks, Larry

Larry,

I don't own the brake controller you mention and have no knowledge of it but it appears to be the same design as a BrakeSmart which I have considerable experience with.

Installation requires removing one of the brake lines out of the master cylinder, installation of a Tee fitting, and a small pressure sensor device off the Tee. A small wiring harness goes from the pressure sensor to the back of the controller.

I have used my BrakeSmart for several hundred thousand miles pulling commerically as an RV transporter. The controller adjusts itself automatically between trailers.

Trailer braking follows your right foot. Whatever you ask your truck brakes to do is responded to by the brake controller and trailer brakes.

I did a google search on maxbrake last night and couldn't find anything bad. I found a coupon for southwestwheel.com that is good for 5% off "RESOURCE" without the quotes. Taking the price to $332. 45 W/ free freight. I ordered one, I'll let you know how it works out. You'll have to wait though, because I won't be towing until Feb 25 when I leave for May Madness. Due to the price of diesel I am making a two month trip out of it. Well maybe I'll sneak in a trip to the coast before that.

Harvey is right on target with his reply... .

I have 2 of the Brake Smart controllers on 2 of my trucks... I really like them... . but thought after all the BS with them that I would look for a new design for my next truck...

My new 5500 will not tow a trailer but if it would need too I'd try this new controller... .

Hey Larry, I met the owner of Maxbrake last year at SEMA and we talked about his controller for about a 1/2 hour. If I were to buy another controller that is the one I would buy, the guy has put a lot of thought into it and I think it is a nice product. I have a BrakeSmart now which has worked perfect for the last 6 or 7 years.
