Hawsers and boat horns

Note: a Hawser is a rope used to secure a ship.



I recently returned from a cruise and brought back 2 new obsessions: the ropes they use to moor the ships to the dock, and their horns. I would love to get a section of that mooring rope to use as a monster tow rope!



And the ships horn! :--) For those who have heard one, wouldn't it be great to have one of them mounted on your truck. You know, to get peoples attention (by making them soil themselves!).

go too your local arborist supply and ask for New England 1" double braided line , min. breakin point is 32k # or the 3/4" line is 20k # rating that 3"+ stuff is just too heavy & forget about the cost

Hmm...

With a handle of Breakseverything, and you deal with heavy line at work I'd have to say you're... a deckhand!



Sorry, couldn't resist. Maybe you test line for a manufacturer. That could explain your handle.



On this topic though, I've seen small trucks with bigger tow lines then they will ever think of breaking. My 20K strap is alot lighter and easier to stow then a mooring line.

my handle, ok I walked into my weilders one day & he said " oh no here comes Brian he Breaks Everything " from that day on they call me" Breaks Everything " & the owner tells his guys to Brian pruff things if they know it's going too be abused , not that any thing can be Brian pruffed , "you can't make it so as I can't break it" but what I do for a living is tree removal

I have indeed heard the horn. Wife and I went on a cruise, and I was standing right behind that horn when it went off.



Wife says, "So I guess you want one of THOSE now?" How could she tell? Was it the stupid grin on my face?
