Has anybody ordered the Haynes Dodge truck repair manual on page 25? I know it can't replace the oem manual but is it worth it or should I just bite the $100 bullit? I am not going to rebuild or repair anything big like transmissions os computors but would like to have diagnostic knowledge of items like throttle position sensor, service info, codes and etc.

Hit me!

The only thing I can tell you is that the OEM manuals (there are two) are each the same size as the Haynes manual pictured, times 2 (volumes 1 & 2). What's that tell ya?

Also, weigh getting the service manual pictured or buying it from the company that makes the truck. Hmmm?? Oh, believe me I understand the cost is painful, but the OEM manuals are the bible for these vehicles.

Many members, myself included, have determined that if the manuals save you one trip to the dealer (and it has, sooner or later, for most of us) it's paid for itself. Throw that into the equation.

Just my . 02. You asked!

OEM Manuals

Where is the best place to get them, other than the dealer? Someone posted a link or phone # on a thread a while back, but I cant find it, and I am ready to order both volumes.

Service Manuals

I just pulled the owners manual out of my truck, and here is the contact information for new publications:

Dyment Distribution Services

PO Box 360450

Strongsville, OH 44136

Phone: 1-800-890-4038

Looks like Service Manuals run $90 plus tax.

You can pick up the Haynes manuals at Auto Zone,

they do lack Torque values for the Diesels (maybe I just dont see them), but the manual gives you a nice overview of how things look and are disassembled.

No problem... That was the first thing I purchased before the goodies! :D I wonder how many people buy it on CD to save 20 bucks??

Not for nothing, but I would have bought it on CD if it was available when I first bought the truck. The CD would be a lot less clumsy than the books and you can search on the topics you're interested in, print out what you want/need on a case-by-case basis. But that's just me!

I had thought about that as well, but the book can be left under the back seat in the storage compartment. Much more convenient in my opinion.
