HD radio

I bought an HD radio unit which is supposed to hook up to my existing radio but I have the Infinity system w/ a 6 disc changer and Sirius. I have stopped the Sirius service years ago as my truck spends most of it's time in the driveway and it only has 26K in 5 years but I thought it would be a good idea to have HD radio. Have any of you installed the HD unit on your rigs? The unit came with the "professional" install kit and is powered by a cigarette lighter plug. It's made by JVC. Any help?

Be careful, many fancy aftermarket electronics devices simply won't work with the CANBUS electronics communication system that is part of every '06 and beyond Ram truck. They'll sell you the products then tell you "we never heard of that" when you call to say your's won't work in your truck.

I ordered a new '06 Ram in January '06, I think. Before it was built and delivered I bought an XM conversion black box to convert the Sirius radio to XM. That was, of course, before the two merged. I bought the adapter from an apparently reputable aftermarket electronics supplier known and recommended on TDR. I had a Dodge dealership tech buddy install it one saturday after I got the truck. It wouldn't work and never did work and no one, not the supplier or local stereo install shops could explain why other than CANBUS.

The CANBUS system is not friendly to aftermarket electronics devices.

Well, last night I checked out how many HD stations were broadcasting in Las Vegas and there were not too many so I took the unit back to Fry's and figured that I would just subscribe to Sirius when the time came to hitch up the 5er and take a tour of our wonderful country staying clear of Detroit The HD radio would have been an appendage hanging off of the dash and it would have looked weird. Anyway, thanks for the reply and have a good one.
