Working on installing HD valve springs to complete my 4k gsk upgrade. Borrowed a spring compressor of the mechanic at work. . Seemed to be the same one used in the articles. Seems it works fine to remove the stock valve springs but the new HD spring are about 3/8" longer and it won't compress them enough to get the keepers back on. i need a spring compressor that will work. . and i need it asap. Can you guys help me on this one. . any designs on a custom lever type compressor i can build or buy... truck is torn apart in the garage ... getting a ride to work from a guy with a gaser chevy :0( ehh

It sucks that I am 1100 miles south of you now. You should have started a week ago when I was still in PA. The compressor I used was the threaded type with the wheel on top. It had to be adjusted all the way out for it to work since I dealt with the same problem, but it did work. I think I got it from NAPA. Sorry I'm not much help. Good luck getting it back together.

Sounds like I used the same one as Bloomy and it was still a tight fit.

Have you tried screwing the spring onto the spring compressor to compress it as much as you can before actually using the compressor (make sense?).

If all else fails Genos Garage sells one that will work but you'll still have to screw the bigger springs on a bit.
