Here's a few pics of the 12 point PA whitetail I got Saturday. He came in with a doe and bedded down, had to wait for 4 hours until he came into bow range. Green scored, no deductions, Pope & Young at 136 and some change.

12 point, nice. . Out here on the west coast that's only a four point. We only count the one side and nubbins ain't worth a thing... but still, very nice.

I have an 8 pointer like that that scored 160 and 1/8. It has a 23 inch spread. I cant figure out how to put a pic up on here. I have a pic in my email of all the deer i have taken. but cant get it to post. Maybe to big of a pic? Nice buck by the way!

Nice deer. I hope I run into a dude like that when I get back home to Ohio. This part of Texas just doesn't grow 'em like we have back home and in your neck of the woods.

I can remember when Dr. Gary Alt came into power on PA's deer management and sitting in one of his seminars. Its amazed me how many hunters were upset with the changes he made to the system on how and what deer were deemed legal. Now a few years later its easy to see the benefits of the management. As I travel along my nightly route up I-81 thru PA racks like this one here are almost common now. I have been watching a HUGE rack at the 126mm for the last 7 or 8 weeks and his makes this one seem small. I am glad to see us all get a chance for some of those racks we only in prior years seen in magazines.



BTW... That is a very nice deer and congratulations!. Its now making my trigger finger very twitchy now... ... ..... Andy

I counted and counted and couldn't get above 5 pts. Still, it is a nice buck. Besides, I commented to the game warden this morning "It looks like I will be eating tuna fish and frozen chicken breasts this winter. " I don't hunt deer and the opportunity for an elk ended with the sun right down the ol' scope - Doah!



Edit: However, sometime in mid-winter when I'm choking down another round of tuna-top ramen-parmesean cheese delight I will start thinking about steaks off of the three mulie bucks I finger shot , deep sigh, some folks are just a little slow on the uptake. :{

So, Hammer, do you see more deer dead on the highway now or less than the last few years? Just wondering, as you spend alot of time out on the road... ... . is there more dead deer or less that you see in your travels?

You guys wanna shoot a deer...come out here! We've got WAY to many! I have an intensive harvist permit. I can take up to 4 deer. Only one buck. The way I understand it, you can take 2 for sure. If you take a buck your first deer, then you can only take one doe. If you take..... lets say 2 does, then you take your buck, your done.

It's a goofy system. I have enough freezer space for them all, just not any time to get out and hunt!

Thanks guys. I too have been seeing nicer bucks every year, and for this deer to come out of the mountains of the gamelands between Bedford and Somerset counties is pretty amazing. I knew the west coasters would have something to say, but in PA it's a legal point if it's over 1".

Couldn't resist the chance to try to post a pic and share some success. This is a pic of the guys I went Mule deer hunting with. We all got decent ones, I think. I'm on the far left with one of the smaller ones at 137 gross and 132 after deductions. I figure if I lived out there and had the chance to shoot one every year, this is probably not a wall hanger. But since I live 1100 miles from there and only go every so often, it's going on the wall.

Just got back from Craig, CO hunting Third season. Our group took 3 6 point bulls and 2 4 point bucks. Not bad considering we did more drinking then hunting.
