I was running a HE351 off an 04.5 HO truck for about a year, and it turns out it was not that great I took it off and am now running a H1C with a 12cm exhaust housing, and it spools much faster, and runs cooler EGTs and around the same max boost.

I'm setting up a non-ic out of a 1991 for a rig I'm slowly piecing together. I rebuilt a WH1C with a 12 cm housing for this engine, but have doubted the decision of the small housing ever since. It's a relief to read that you've had good results with this combination.

What kind of boost are you seeing?

You will like the way a H1C with 12 housing runs, lag time is almost non existent and quickly reaches 20 psi with out pushing it, and will go all the way to 42psi under WOT. when the truck is empty I never see above 900 on the EGT's under normal driving on the mountains around here.

But becareful with the high boost anything over 25-maybe 28 is Just wasted Hot air the H1c was not designed to push that much air .

That is even too much for a HX35, the quality of air is so poor it is not really a factor. A 12 housing and small compressor is easy to spin to that pressure but the air is just not there.

Max boost is funciton of fuel and exhaust flow, doesn't really factor in to uses other than racing. The HE351 is much more comfortable at those pressures and delivers better air where it is needed down low, big reaosn for its popularity. A bit harder to tune correctly becasue it has a bigger compressor and turbine but the results are much better in the typical towing range.
