I am in the final stages of an HE351 vgt install and have a slight snag. Seems like the diamond eye 4" exhaust and the new cast elbow do not have the same diameter so will not mate up properly.

Is there any trick to make this connection or do I have to Jerry rig something.

Thanks
The truck is an 03 Quad cab, single wheel with4" diamond eye exhaust, Donaldson muffler, Fass fuel pump, & an Edge W/attitude.

It was a stock elbow with the 4" exhaust added. I now have a 04.5-07 elbow and can see the difference between them.
I have a section of the 4" tubing with a slip joint on one end. I wonder how hard it would be to put a flare on it so that I could cut the down pipe and weld the bigger flare on it.

Any other ideas out there?

Thanks,

How do you put a VGT on an 03? doesn't it need some kind of computer control to change pitch or does it adjust itself somehow?

A couple companies make a stand alone electronic controller for that purpose and other more DIY types use air cylinders controlled by drive pressure and/or boost pressure. I have all the parts to do this conversion on my 2005 and will do a write -up with pics when I finally get around to it later this year.

I used the Fleece controller on mine. I will list the part #s and see if I can get some pictures of the final install once I have the down pipe solved. The hard part was getting the right exhaust elbow and manifold to clear the spring tower.

I plan on a trip to the local muffler shop for a down pipe modification.
Thanks AH64ID for the info, it got me to looking at the old elbow versus a newer one.

Thanks, I look forward to reading how you did it and your impressions of the performance difference.
Morse, I appreciate your input too.
