Last week I blew the head gasket on my 01. 2 fire rings were broken allowing combustion pressure into the coolant side of the motor.

The Garrett turbo I have has coolant and oil in/out ports. I had coolant in the intercooler and intake horn. My guess is that the pressure in the coolant side forced coolant thru to the intake side of the turbo.

I called a few shops that sell these turbos and I was told that the turbo can't be checked for leaks. If I suspect that it failed, then I need to buy a new center cartridge.

Anyone from Garrett, HTT, II?? What do you think? Do you sell the PowerMax line?

how bout pressurize the coolant side of the turbo to 16psi (regulated shop air) and listen for any hissing. Ho depot should sell some appropriate fittings to do the task. Millertim(e) He has one of those intakes that seals off the air filter from the engine compartment Though some could still sneak by (I suppose)
