I've been looking a couple different 12 valves, one is a 97 4x4 dually with 122k and a 5 speed. its really nice with nice extras however it was used to tow 5th wheels and i was told that the head gasket was replaced should this be a red flag? he also has the wastegate disabled. here's the truck:

These models, like mine, tend to leak coolant at the front corner of the head below the thermostat. They leak coolant to the outside, not contaminating the oil. This is the most common reason for a head gasket replacement. I did mine and now with 195k, towing a heavy 5th wheel, is very dependable.

I would say if you have no problem with the price, don't worry about the truck. Really low miles for that year.

That is why mine was replaced. If the owner told you about the replacement I would assume he would tell you why.

yeah exactly what he said, just a replacement. i love the truck i just dont think it's worth that much. i offered him 13k and he wouldn't even take that. he doesn't want to sell, it's the wife. .

make the 13k offer to his wife and see what happens . this won't take long if she has that kind of control over her loving husband .
