WHISTLEMAN it sounds like the 0. 020" thicker head gasket for the 12 valve trucks is going to be the way to go. You will have to enlarge the coolant passage holes in the new gasket to work. One member has already done this, and i will be doing mine within the next couple of weeks. go to the thread "head gasket troubles" down a few posts and read there if you haven't already. they list the cummins part # as 3283339 for the 20 over gasket.

Also, when replacing the head gasket, I would highly recommend getting a new set of head bolts. The old ones may be stretched and wont re-torque properly. The extra $55 is well worth it, IMO.

Does the 0. 020" thicker head gasket on the ETH bring the compression down to an ETC?

That's right Big Carl. The ETH will drop about . 5 cr to 16. 5.

You don't want a high compression ratio in a high performance motor. Low compression and lots of boost will run cooler.
