From the manual:

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.

2. Remove the oval-shaped rubber access hole plug from the forward upper outboard surface of the front fender wheel liner (4).

3. Reach through the wheel liner access hole to remove the nut (5) that secures the stud on the lower outboard corner of the front lamp unit (3) housing to the fender headlamp mounting panel.

4. With the hood panel opened, remove the two screws (2) that secure the inboard side of the lamp housing to the mounting panel.

5. Grasp the lamp firmly and pull straight forward to disengage the ball stud on the upper outboard corner of the lamp from the plastic grommet (1) in the mounting panel.

Once you get the headlight assembly out, the bulb can be removed, I think it said turn it 30 degrees CCW.

The Maine way to change one.

As an alternative,

The LH one is very easy, just reach in between the radiator support and PDM. There is room enough, I just did one the other day.

The RH side I did by removing the air cleaner box.

I prefer my methods, then you don't risk dropping the nut trying to pull it out the access hole in the inner fender.

Thanx Mr. Lane... ... ... .....

I just wanted to change the bulbs but I did know I had to disassemble the front end of the truck!

Dang design engineers should have to work on these things!

Taking out the light does require more time; but for a guy with larger hands like mine, its less aggervating than to have your hand cramping and smashed inside trying to change a light. . its whatever. .

The biggest problem that I had trying it mwilson's way was getting the bulb retaining ring to engage the 3 screws on the back of the headlight assembly. Just not enough room to apply even pressure all the way around. Like BMHenry, taking the headlight assembly out is far less aggravating.

No ring on a 2006 and up

The H13 bulb that the 06-09 trucks use does not have a ring. There are tabs made to the bulb, simply twist and pull it out.

You can release the bulb, pull it out a bit and then unplug the harness.

Yeah, that would make it a TON easier. Wish the '03's were like that.
