Several weeks ago my left low beam headlight burned out and put a "lamp out" by the speedometer. After replacing the bulb, a 9007, it still would not work. Had to re-flash the computer, then it worked.

Well wouldn't you know it now, a week later, the right one burned out with "lamp out" again by the speedometer. Is it possible to replace the bulb and get the bulb working again w/o re-flashing the computer??? Maybe the key on/off three times???

Got stopped by the Alaska State Troopers in Tok, Alaska for the 2nd bulb out, in daylight no less. I explained the re-flash thing. He just said show me your license, proof of insurance and get it fixed.

My wife recognized him from the Ak. State Trooper TV program.

The computer doesn't control lighting on an 04. It's the FCM, which can't be reflashed. Somebody is lying to you. It's probably a bad connection at the FCM. Do a search for the repair.

Yes, just replacing the buld SHOULD allow it to work. If it doesn't and it requires a flash ther eis another problem somewhere in the ECU\FCM connection circuits that is causing problems.

I finally had the time and ambition to replace the rt. headlight. What a PITA that job is. After replacing the bulb the "lamp out" warning disappeared and the light works.
I have no idea why the lt. one required the body module to be reflashed.
Oh well it works, life is good and it's brewsky time.
