The last 3 days while driving to work I have noticed my headlights flicker, almost like the voltage regulater is going out. I looked at the belt it seems to be tight, I don't know what else to check. Has anyone else had this problem, I can see this being one of those 5 trips to the dealer with nothing fixed things.

Thanks for any help

If it's cold out and you are going under 18 mph it 's your intake grid heater cycling and drawing a load, it's completely normal. The heater should only run for 3 minutes after starting. Your wait to start light should have come on before you cranked the engine.

It dosen't seem to be quite the same, I have noticed that also,it is a much faster flicker. It almost looks like a headlight on an old motorcycle, how it will almost look loose. Yes I did make sure the bulbs are tight.

I had a 2000, 2500 that did the same thing right from the day it was new. I never took time to take it to the dealer and have it checked out. Drove it for 2 years like this without any problems, just drive you nuts. Keep us posted if you find out what it is.

I had the same problem, and I think illflem gave me the fix. I have a '97, but assuming the grid heater system is about the same, on the driver side fender well, under the hood, are 2 solenoids. Each of them has 2 threaded posts with a push-on terminal. One of my terminals was still in place, but had worked loose. I crimped it slightly with a pair of pliers, pushed it back on the post, and have had no more problems. Other suggestions I received about the same problem included checking the main grounds, one on each side of the engine block, and the powertrain control module. The solenoids are the easiest to get to, though--check them first.
