Is it OK to loosen all head studs, re-lube and re-torque the head studs if you don't disturb the head itself?

I want to go another 10 or 20 ft lbs, the head was put on a little over a year ago.

What brand studs do you have? What are they torqued too? Normally you don't retorque to an additional amount. ARP 12mm studs can be torqued to 122 lbs, anything beyond this amount results in stud yield and no additional clamping force. What you can do is to loosen 1 stud at a time and retorque itand then go onto the next one.

Thanks guys!

Doug, I got them from Haisley. I don't believe they are ARP.

They were torqued to 120, wanted to start over to make sure they were all good, however I was worried about doing it after a year, I'm sure the molly lube is gone.

Torqued my Arp's 4 times in the first Month. Went 100 lbs. using the arp lube. Think 130 using 30 weight motor oil. followed the cummins torque pattern. Started in working out, Havn't had a problem yet. When installing studs and gasket follow this setup ------ Started the truck up to full warm up (Just idling) shut it down, Next day when it's cold re- torque. Drive a full tank through it low boost ( When cold re-torque) Drive 2 tanks ( min boost) When Cool Re-torque After the 3rd should be good ( Check the specs in a year).

Torque This,

I would call Haisley and ask them how much torque can be applied. I would also get more moly lube and use lots of it on the stud, washer, and nut..... You want the torque to be applied to the clamping force not the twisting friction of the nut.
