Am looking for a good quality headache rack. Anybody use them and if so what brand and where did you get it. All I can find locally are cheap ones. Searching on the web have found what appear to be nice ones from a variety of welders but none are close enough to see one in person (a couple have local dealers but no one carries them in stock). Anything special I should look for in one?

Brands that look good in a picture:

ranch hand http://www.ranchhand.com/headacheracks.htm

b&w turnover ball http://www.turnoverball.com/

arc right http://www.arcrite.com/hrack.html

bulldog brushguards http://www.bulldogbrushguards.com/Headache Racks.htm

protech http://www.protech.net/lt_cabguards.htm

younger bros http://www.younger-bros.com/headache_rack.htm

younger also makes a nice looking rear bumper

Some matching bed caps/rails would be a plus, lumber stops would also be a plus as well as lights

Looking for opinions/ personal experience with any of these or any others that are out there so lets hear from you. .

I have been looking for a headache rack for the past 2 years and I still have not found one that I really like.

I dont want the louves or bars over the back window. And I dont want it higher than the cab. It really wont be a functioning headache rack. What it will be used for is a place that I can mount extra brake, turn and backup lights. And also when I get ready to pull my 5th wheel. . it will be setup to hold my Taylor wing. I want it so that all I need to do is drop in a couple of pins and the wing is mounted and ready.

I have a Taylor wing and mounting rack so what I may do is get some 1. 5" X 3" steel and make up what I want. .

I like my pro-tech. Seems really well built. I've had one of their crossboxes for a little over two years with no problems.

I had mine custom made by Brown's Welding, New Braunfels, TX; for way cheaper than what ranch hand charges for one built like thousands of others... . PM me and I will send you a pic... I have one in my gallery that will show a semi closeup... Take a look and PM me if you like. . If you want to contact them, the # is 800-625-8712. .

I Second the Brown's Welding

Go with Brown's Welding.

Both mine and my wife's truck have Brown's Welding accessories. They are stout, good looking, quality and suprisingly low cost.

Good luck, Wiredawg

Ever looked at a Back Rack . You can get brackets for lights antennas etc. Even clears the CHMSL light. I got this info from DieselB59 and have been trying to order one from here but seem to be having problems with the website.

Take it easy.

Is there any manufacturer of a headache rack that is cab high? I too have been looking for one but I want it level with the cab.

I have one laying around, but it would cost ALOT to ship it out to Hawaii... I will get some pics if you are interested... . It is a western Hauler rack, with 4 oval lights, and the reason I got rid of it, is because I could not find any bedrails I liked to weld it to. . Awesome rack. . PM me if you want more info. .
