Hi All:

I just moved up to the 3rd gen world with the purchase of an 06 regualar cab 6 speed. So far (less than 200 miles) so good, except for one issue. The high beam on the drivers side headlamp does not work. All other exterior lighting is normal. Anyone have a clue as to why this is so and a fix.

Thanks. Steve Whalen

remove the bulb and swap sides with it if the trouble moves to the other side the bulb is bad if the problem stays you may have a problem. with a volt meter and the high beam on i need you to tell me the reading from the negative side of the battery to each lead of the high beam if you have no voltage on the hot lead try following it back leave the light on and use a test light check first near the light to see if the plug is bad. the 06 uses some very unusual wiring schemes all three wires from each side go back to the pcm-fcm -ecm or what ever combo you call it. there the lights are controlled through solid state devices. for daylight running it series the bulbs in canada it turns off the light on the side your turn signal is on if the problem is in the pcm then you are looking at a expensive repair

Thanks for the responses.

Testraub: I forgot to mention in the original post that I tried a new bulb and that made no difference.

CKelly1: I am an idiot electrically, but will try to follow your instructions tonite and see what I can find.

This truck has 29k on the clock and an in service date of 12/18/06. do you suppose that this could be covered under the 3/36 and I can simply dump the problem on the dealer?

Thanks, steve whalen

I forgot to provide an update regarding resolution of this problem. Took the truck to the dealer hoping the problem would be covered under warrentee. A flash of the Totally Integrated Power Module and I was good to go. A pleasant surprise that did not lighten my wallet. Thanks for the replies. Steve Whalen
