Headlight adjustments

I have a question about adjusting headlights. I know there are a couple of screws to adjust the headlights up/down and side to side but how do you know when/how to make the adjustments? I seem to remember that you parked the truck so many feet away from a blank wall. Turn on the headlights and see where they are pointed. I thought that at 6feet away the headlights should be about knee high on the wall. Is this correct in any way?

Level Ground, 25' away from wall.

Bounce front end a few times than measure height of headlights off ground and distance between two light centers. .

Purpose is to mark wall with straight ahead center beam for each light.

Aim center of each beam straight ahead and 1/2" to 1" below level.
