Replaced the headlight bulbs with PIAA 9007 bulbs. Kind of a pain to pull the whole headlight assb. out to replace a bulb. Only complaint with truck. coobie
I totally agree. I put in the silver stars recently and it took me about an hour. I had trouble accessing the bolt under the headlight by the fender to get the headlight out. I also changed my fog lights to silver stars. I personally like the white light that it emits. $75 for both sets from Wally World.
I like the PIAA,s real well. They seem brighter than the stock bulbs. The problem I had also was the screw by the bumper. Pain in the rear to get to. coobie
Getting to the screw to remove it wasn't a problem. Getting it back in there--well, it required a flexible shaft extension screwdriver, and some Juicy Fruit (Don't laugh--the redneck in me came up with that, and it worked)!
I too spent about an hour to an hour and a half to change mine to the silverstars.
Ok, I'll have to give credit here to Chevy, when I went and looked at the 03 Chevy when I was truck shopping. the Salesman showed me that, You pop one pin and the whole headlight assembly folds forward.
I thought the process was pretty easy, but I was comparing it to removing a Ford SD's headlights. Now that's a PAIN ! I put duct tape on the Dodge's bumper cover to protect it from the headlight's bottom edge as you remove it.
Well, yeah, I thought it was a PITA too, but I reached up from the bottom; didn't unbolt anything. I just couldn't convince myself that Dodge wanted the headlight assembly removed to change a bulb.
I have a sport, and it requred a thin extension to get to the bolt, but I had both assemblies out and put the PIAA's in, in about 10 minutes TOTAL. I found it totally simple and I think most will too. You just have to push down on the plastic of the bumper a bit(it will bend dont worry), and you'll get to the bolt just fine. =]
