I have standing water in one of my headlights. Looking at replacements and see several aftermarket ones at about half the price of the factories. Does anyone have any experience with them? Truck is a 2012 3500 Laramie with quad headlights.

I have a grill guard that has to be removed to replace the light so I would rather replace than try to repair the old one.

I don't have experience with 4th gen, but do with 2nd and 3rd gen. Most cheap aftermarket are cheap. For all that trouble, buy from Genos or one of the name resellers like Mopar for Less. If the one you're removing is in good shape, minus the leak, fix it and keep it. Don't know about you, but we have lots of gravel trucks down here in TX.

Cheers, Ron

Pull it, dry it out with a hair dryer, dry it out again, then seal the perimeter of the glass to the housing with Rtv, or something similar. Don't over heat the housing when drying , because it will melt. Reinstall.
Note: I did have to do this twice. Only because I didn't dry it out compleatly the 1st try.

AARGH! I am replacing the bulbs in my water filled headlight (replacement housing coming from Geno's) and commenced searching for replacement on the 'net. Who would of thought that their would me so many choices at such a variety of prices for a headlight bulb! Since I have to pull off a grill guard to replacement bulb I need one that has a long life and provides adequate light. I'm not really interested in upgrading to led or hid after market items. At 70 I try not to drive at night but have been generally dissatisfied with the OEM bulbs but my reading indicates that has to more with headlight design. I detest the bright white light and blue light the blinds me from other vehicles. Any suggestiions?
