I drove about ten miles home in the dark last night. I got home went inside for a few miuets came back out started the truck and the headlights didn't turn on. Checked the fuses and the switch and put a new switch in it for peace of mind not to mention I hear it's good to have a spare for the first gens  . This fixed nothing. Keep in mind that not only the headlights don't work it's everything that runs through the switch. So diging deeper I found no power to the switch. I went out under the hood and found a (custom) installed fuse link that was melted and the wire color was red with a white tracer(same as going into the switch) I fixed the mess and put a new fuse link in there so that whatever is spiking dosent melt my switch and thought maybe I'd get lucky, yeah right it lasted about 3 miles before they went out agian. There is obviously an issue if the original owner put in a fuse So I was wondering if you guys have any solutions for this problem. I just put in a tach and spliced into the light wires for the banks guages. I don't think that could put it over the edge but the timing was about right. Think that could do it?

TIA for any help you can give.

Cade

If you have a trailer plug installed see if it has a bunch of debris in the back side shorting out you parking light circuits. This would take out the fuse for the lighting system.

Its got the big round six pin with brakes. It has a cover on it so I don't think it is a problem but I'll take a look at it. Thanks for the reply. Cade
