Headlight Protection

I just ordered a set of headlight protectors from Geno's. Evidently they are a 40 mil thick urethane material. Anybody have any experience with these? Also will be ordering the AC condenser guard. Anybody have any experience with this?



Thanks in advance for your input. Just a couple of items I want on my tyruck b/4 our trip to AK this summer.

My buddy has the AC guard on his truck it works well. I have mine sitting in the garage... ..... all I need is my truck to put it on. First time to AK? If so you will love it up here! I would also reccomend a bug screen of some sort too. The bugs sound like rain when you drive through in some areas during the summer.

This will be my first trip to AK driving. Flew up there 3 times hunting years ago.

I ordered mine from StonGard, they were simple to install, they are like very thick pieces of tape. I hope that they work like they say, I've already replaced one foglight. :{



Don't have any experience with the AC condenser guard.

I installed the Kilby guard, you need to drill four holes to install it. Looks good and works well for leaning over the fins. You don't need to remove the brackets as the instructions say, just carefully slide the guard in.

I have a set of the lens covers that I haven't installed yet, I had them on my '01 and that was pretty easy, but those lenses were a nice smooth convex shape. The '05 is wavey so I think they will take some more playing with to make them conform to the lens.

I tried the headlight protection kit from Geno's and failed miserably putting them on. The fog light covers went on ok although I do have a couple of bubbles that will not come out. If you get two sets of instructions, use the ones from the MANUFACTURER because the others won't work. It uses an alcohol/water mix I believe. Anyway my headlight protectors wound up in the trash. I think the covers are a great idea. Good luck with yours!

Received my headlight protection in the mail today. This definitely looks like a job for my wife and her nimble fingers!



Re a bug screen; I plan to remove my wind deflectors and put on a "bra. " (On the truck, not me). Don't see how both would fit at the same time.

I also ordered a set of headlight protectors and returned them to Geno's, no way were they going to fit flush with the bubbles on origanal lenses without lots of heat and patencies

Why do these trucks need protection for the headlights? Every time I went to a Dodge dealer the first thing they did was bash the headlight with their fist to show how strong the Lexan lens covers were. They also use Lexan for cockpit glass. Has anyone ever broken one of these on their truck?

I put "stoneguards" on the fog lights because I know they break.



Never heard of a headlight breaking.

Crunch--- It seemed like a good idea to me. Utah likes to "chip" their roads. Lay down a layer of tar, then cover it with pea gravel and allow the traffic to pound it in. Lots of broken windshields and chipped paint. I try to avoid it, even to the point of driving out of my way around those roads. The headlights do look fragile and I never had anyone at the dealer brag about how tough the lights were. They look very expensive to me. Oh well, I won't have any unless I can find someone that puts them on!
