Discovery: You can bypass the complex instructions and remove the headlights with 3 screws and leave the "Heavy Duty shroud in place as well as the Grille.

1) Unscrew the upper and lower headlight bolts
2) Unscrew the upper right and left grille bolts. Leave the rest.
3) Open hatch inside wheel well and move plastic clip to release headlight.
4) Wiggle headlight gently by pulling on the outer edge by the turn signal while leaving the inner side by the grill mostly forward.
5) After getting the outer edge pulled out and released by the friction retainer, wiggle some more as you turn the inside end next to the grille in towards the radiator and slide the outer edge forward and then towards the outside of the truck.

It takes some patience but you can skip a bunch of steps.

Also -- just use a terry or microfiber around the grille and the headlight moulded insert below the headlight before you start the wiggling.

I was able to get it out on both sides without doing anything more.

Thought someone might think this helpful. I put HID's into truck and had to go back and clean up some wiring. I decided to try getting the headlamps out without removing the "Heavy Duty" shroud, etc... .

I read your shortcut regarding headlight removal in the TDR - Issue 70.

(By the way, you've got a nice looking truck. )

My last truck was a 2008 in the same mineral Gray as yours, but when I saw the 2010 models, I sold it and am waiting for Dodge to get the nav. system problem resolved before I order my replacement.

Anyway, I'm interested in the HID headlights you installed... .comparative performance to stock, source and cost.

Any input you could give would be appreciated.

Regards, Jeff
