Ok got my 2003 in and need to get to the wires for the headlights to splice a wig wag in ( flasher) what is going to be the easiest way to get to the headlight wires or does someone know where they are located closer to the firewall?? I know they where a real pain on my 2001 and this one looks even worse. .

Your owner's manual shows detailed instructions for headlamp housing removal. Once the housing is removed, you should have easy access to the wires you need.

Good Luck!

Mike

The headlight assemblies are a real PAIN to get out!! I installed some higher wattage high beam head light bulbs (same low beam wattage) in mine. Now I get a "light out" alarm on the dash about half the time when the lights are on. It's gotta be some kind of current sensing circuit thingy. I need to get the wiring schematics out and check it out.

Were they PIAA or Sylvania?

I got a set of the PIAAs and the high beams wouldn't work. I just got an exchange for a new set today hoping they were just defective. I haven't tried them yet, but I'n thinking they just won't work for some reason. The fog light replacements from PIAA work fine, though.

Edit: Got the replacements in, they work fine, definitely brighter than the stock. Worth the $$ you ask? Probably not...

PIAA Lights

For the sake of sounding a bit dense, can you guys tell me what PIAA lights are and why so many guys are changeing to them.

Are they a replacement bulb? I have not heard of them before.

Thanks: Rich

PIAA is Italian for mega-bucks.

Actually they are great lights, but other than lights for a B-1, not sure you could get a more expensive light. I think they are more then Hella... .

According to the box, they are CEC Intustries LTD. I think they are made in Korea or Hong Kong. Thier web site: http://www.cecindustries.com/

I have bought them for years at JC Whitney. Only $12 each. http://www.jcwhitney.com/item.jhtml?ITEMID=67269&BQ=jcw2 The milage on them is OK. I get about 20k-30K miles out of 'em.

12v #9007 100/55w. They say for off road only. I seldom ever get flashed with them from on coming drivers on low beams. But they don't seem to like my high beams when I flash them.

They worked REAL well on my '01. They seem to be a little better than the stock ones on my '03, but I have not driven the truck enough to really know yet. Only 600 miles so far.

Thanks. I'm putting in Sylvanias and doing a set of HID's in the slot in the bumper this weekend. Will let you know how they play!
