2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Headlight Switch And Paint

I OWN A 96 EXTENDED CAB WITH 159000 MILES ON IT. RECENTLY THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK. WAS A RECALL ISSUED FOR THE SWITCH? WHATS CONSIDERED THE BEST FIX? I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE PAINT ON THE BOX FLAKING OFF. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS HAPPEN, ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.

Both of your problems are very common. The headlight switch is fairly easy to replace, the paint is not so easy to replace . If you are the original owner you can try and go after DC for the paint, the first step is to the area manager. You can do a search for "peeling paint" here and turn up lots to read about. All three bids I have gotten recently were in the $2000 to $2500 mark for a repaint. I'm still debating what to do.
