How many gentlemen (or ladies) out there have had problems with their lights now working because of the headlight switch connector. Back in December (?) I lost my dash lights. I replaced the headlight switch. I noticed the plastic connector was melted around the post for the dash lights. Over the weekend the tail lights went out. Again I pulled the switch out and sure enought the plastic connector is melted more. Hot weather is on the way. Dodge stealer wants $97 for a new switch and connector. Switch not the problem. Service manager says no info on plastic connector. Can we start a recall count on this safety (fire) problem?

I have seen a post about a special connector for a light switch problem. I don't remember what year Ram. I think 1997 and older. I know it had to do with replacing the headlight switch that kept going out. Try Fritz's site and look for a TSB on the light switch. Good luck! Too bad the Search isn't working yet.

Up date. I called d. c. customer service (lower case, very lower) yesterday and after inputting all the information on touch tone key pad. Some snot nosed kid named aaron (lower case again) came on the line and asked all the same questions over again (very irritating). After yanking my chain for 15+ minutes he tells me that there is no recall notice. No s)(&^t dick tracy, I knew that and had two people at the stealer tell me that also.

So after that wonderful exchange of information I called the NHTSA (nationa highway traffic safety admin) and filed a complaint. Tail lights go off with out warning and someone rear ends me, fire under the dash. etc. We'll see if that does anything.

Last night at midnight, after working on a 1948 Jeep, I put the trailer on the back of the truck and no lights back there. I pulled the dash bezel off and pulled the headlight switch out, wiggled the orange and black wire and lights came on. Same thing this morning except now I driving around with the bezel in the back seat.

Now it's time to fix it. I'll take that piece of plastic sh)&(^T out and put new "quality" individual connectors on without the plastic trash. A little time comsuming but it'll never act up again.

Back in the 70s I had a 74 Dodge Cornet. 318 and a 727 trans.

Great power train but the body kept falling off. I see Chryler has changed names but their QC is the same.

I'm done venting. Thanks for listening.

Thanks for the come back Turboramin!!
