Recently had my headlight switch start acting funny.

When I'm running high beams and go to switch back to lows my headlights go out completely. Just pulling back as if to flash my lights brings them right back on. It gave my wife quite a start the other night. I guess I better get them fixed. Any body had similar? Is there something easy I should look for first or just suck it up and take it to the dealer for a change out?

Yes very common problem. The heat sinc CANNOT dissapate the heat generated from theese switches fast enough. ESPECIALLY if you keep your guage cluster lights dimmed. At full brightness the switch actually has a slightly LOWER load on it thus running cooler. Many guys have drilled a hole in the HVAC duct right next to the switch place to help cool it after they installed a new one.

Are you guys sure?

I have the same problem, Seems to me the problem must be with the hi/lo switch on the steering column? Am I wrong? Lights work fine until I operate the switch on the column. I have not bothered to look at it yet
