Want to replace the headlight switch in my wifes 01. My question is how do I get the dash apart without breaking anything or causing unsightly damage?

The dash trim just pops off. Start at one end (I start at the end left of the steering wheel) and pry it up with your fingers. It will pop off. Continue to pry it up all around the trim. To put it back, just put it in place and pop it back in... ;)

seems easy enough

That seems easy enough I assume after that the switch removal and installation will be self explanatory.

Thanks Chuck

Ram,

don't know about the 01's but my 98. 5 has a screw you need to remove next to the power outlet.

Glenn,

That's wierd... I've taken my brother's 98 12V instrument trim off and it came off exactly like my 2001. Maybe they changed it between model years...

My 94 had 4 screws if I remember correct, my 98 had 1, and my 2000 has none, just the pull off deals. Funny thing is that my 2000 dash seems to squeak more than the 98, and the 98 squeaked more than the 94.
