This is the second switch NAPA/Echlin part #HL6548 in 35,522 miles. The switch was getting warm, the headlights would not turn on unless I moved the wires into the switch. The switch had melting below/inside spade-H. The female connector with the Green wire in the box, melted the box walls around the connector. I put a plastic shield on the female connector. I taped some exposed Green wire above the box. All works well, no heat on the switch when on. However, when I push lights off/in, it triggers a buzzer for just a moment, then the buzzer stops. What do you think that buzzer is about

There is no buzzer/warning if I leave the lights on, remove the key and shut the door. I hope I explained with enough detail :-laf.

Thanks in advance :D, Patrick.

It sounds to me like some thing is shorted out or wired wrong that the buzzer comes on at the wrong time, it should only come on it the lights are on but the engine is not or if you let the keys in it. As for the switch melting do you pull a trailer alot i had problems with trailer marker lights killing the switch on my truck so put in a toggle switch for the trailer markers and have not had any issuses since or it could be caused by the short or what ever is wrong with buzzer.

You might have a circuit breaker not tripping , i have had my lights go black on me a time or two before and it was with out no trailer on either

The light switch knob/shaft kept falling out. I got a new on from the dealer. Fit perfect, the buzzing has stopped. The light switch under the dash is very slightly warm after a hour drive, less warmth than the instrument cluster lights. They have always gotten warm after a hour with lights on:rolleyes: So far so good. Going hauling this weekend. :-laf
Thank you everyone. !TDR the best! :D Patrick.

My 1995 stock 2500 was doing that.
Had to install a new NAPA switch because the old one got hot enough to quick working. This helped but still getting hot. Installed the harness relay kit. Now dim lights are brighter than the brights use to be,
Got to have this relay kit.
