So... I'm happily working along installing my Fog-light kit, (82205656). All is well, I'm right at the last few steps, and anxious to put the new switch in the dash, (my 98. 5 has the old push/pull type). I try to mate the plugs and find that the male and female plugs are incompatable, the new switch is a compact 14pin, the old is a massive 7 prong.
I go to my dealer in Taos where I bought the lights and told him the problem. He said "that is impossible", because the kit fits all, and said the only thing he can do is if the box isn't opened, give my $ back. He said I must have a 14 pin, I said I would show him, and he said he won't waste his time, because he knows that I am wrong. There has to be a mopar switch that fits my trucks plug, does anyone know the #, or what to do??? Is there a phone # I can call and get information. My dealer is no help, one of those bad dealers. I've seen fog lights on a 98, so there is something out there.

First off,I hope he didn't sell you a fog light kit for a '97 or '99 instead of a '98.
If the kit part number is right, the next step I would check is if the headlight switches are the same or have a different part number for a 12 valve truck versus a 24 valve truck. I wouldn't think that would change, but you never know. Also, when he looks up the headlight switch part numbers, check to see what choices come up for for a headlight switch with the factory installed fog lights. You paid for a complete and correct kit, therefore you should get what you paid for.

Lastly, this parts guy sounds like a lazy jerk. Does he forget that he is paid to look up parts?! You are never going to be his friend,so don't take any cr*p for what he's suppose to be doing in the first place... looking up parts no matter how odd the part is. This guy is in the WRONG if he thinks he can decide wether he has time to find something for you or not.
If this guy doesn't change his attitude,I would talk to either the dealership owner or the general manager,I'm sure they'll get you results.

Your headlight switch is not the place for the fog light provision. The parts man sold you a kit for '99 & up. The fog light switch for the '98 Ram is to the right of the radio, where the passenger airbag switch is. With the right kit, it would come with a new bezel for the airbag and foglamp switch. The '99 and up Ram have the headlight switch in the kit you have. Good luck, and tell the parts man HE sold you the wrong kit!

JW----If this is unresolved quickly, call the parts dept at Advantage Dodge in Farmington. They are the "Mopar parts for less" people. They WILL straighten out the problem, as far as parts are concerned. Good luck----here's the phone number---------505-327-4424, or, 1-800-748-2139

Thanks for the information. I called Advantage Dodge/Mopar for Less, and in a few moments they had me fix up with a new install kit, for a 98. One of the qualities of living in a small community in northern newMexico, is everyone is connected to someone who knows you. Reacting to a bad dealer has to be fairly subtle. I don't know anyone who has bought a truck from this dealer, nor uses the service anymore, and I have neighbors with new RamCummins. The dealer has a sign "no returns on ordered parts, no exceptions" so I will put my 99>Install kit in TDR Classified and minimize me loss. And will never support the Taos Dealer again.
