Hello fellow TDR members ,does anyone know where i can get a new headlight switch/with the sport light function for a 2001. My sport lights quit working the other day ,took the whole assemble out and traced it to the headlight switch. On the sport model trucks, when you turn on your headlights you must pull the headlight switch 'out' to turn on the sport lights, mine appears to have broke :{ . I spent most of the last evening trying to figure how it works, well when you pull the knob out you are engauging 2 little brass finger like ends that complete the circuit, push in and they don't touch--no lights. One of the little fingers has broken off,the other looks like its on its way out too. I really don't want to have to go to the dealer  and i'm out of luck with the salvage yards around here. Does any member know of a spare part/salvage truck around and could get me one or offer a solution. I am pretty sure that the switch was used in the 2000/2001/2002 sport model trucks/1500/2500/3500 series. THANKS------ DW

Here are the three headlight switches available for your Ram:

56021673AD SWITCH, Headlamp w/Cargo Lamp

56021674AD SWITCH, Headlamp w/o Cargo Lamp

56021675AE SWITCH, Headlamp w/Cargo Lamp & Foglamp

There is no difference in the switch between Sport and non-Sport.

Its must be the third one -56021675AE-headlamp/cargolamp/foglamp. Thanks for the info, now to find one at reasonable $$$ Oo.

It does not need to be a "Sport" model, just a truck that had foglights, most SLT trucks have foglamps, hopefully this broadens your search.

Thanks, just got off the phone with the brother inlaw,he's a heavy duty mechanic for one of the big rig outfits in town and he knows a guy who works for a local dodge dealership in the parts dept. . He says that he can get one tomorrow for cost, wonder what cost will be but this may help, hope it doesn't break again. IMHO it seems to be a chicken---- way to build a switch. THANKS again members for all the info,i'll post the price when i find out-- DW.

New switch

I picked up the new switch at the dealer today ,thanks to the brother inlaw it only cost $72. 50CAN. I guess thats not to bad, wonder how long this will last. A guy at work told me the same thing happened to him, has a Ferd, plus $150. 00 for him. The parts guy wondered why i did not bring it to the dealer for them to look at,says it would probable be covered under warranty if the truck is still stock. One look at my truck and they would have refused the switch to be covered(SEE SIG FOR STOCK BOMBS  ) . I could hear them now,all that aftermarket stuff put undo STRESS on that switch causing it to fail. On another note thought ,the dealership that i bought the part from sells parts to the diesel performance place i deal with, parts manager has seen my truck inside and out when they were working on it so i can't hide the BOMBS anyway :-laf DW.

i had to buy one recently because the fog lamps quit on me too. i did take it apart to have a look see, its kinda cheap. but it worked for 5 yrs before it broke, so... i payed about 65. 00 at the dealer

Hello CEpp---Five years is alot longer than mine lasted, not much use out of the truck either, only 13500 miles on a 2001  and not abused in any way. Switch is very cheaply built, maybe its an INTENSE BLUE thing or made on a Monday or Friday. :-laf :-laf :-laf
