I get off work at 3 a. m. Go to get in my truck and turned the switch on for my headlights and they didn't come on. After about turning the switch on and off 20 times they finally came on.

The parking lights would come on. The dash lights came on. But the headlights were a little stubborn.

Wondering if its the switch. Does anyone have any ideas?

Head lights

Sounds like the dreaded headlight switch problem!!!!!!!

Heating has caused a switch failure. There is a TSB out there covering this. You will need a new switch and maybe a replacement pigtail. Depends on how hot it got before failure.

Hell driving w/o headlights isn't it. Happened to my '94

Denny:( :( :( :(

Mine quit and the little handle came out of the switch in my hand. Very glad I had fog lights. Took about 2 1/2 hours to replace the whole thing. All the wires had to be cut and a new switch soldered in.

Good luck with that trouble.

Do you smell smole? It happened to mine too. A new switch and wiring pigtail should cure it. After having what you described happen a couple times, smoke rolled out of the dash and I had no lights except headlights. It is covered by the TSB mentioned above.

If the TSB was already dine, you probably have a bad switch or relay. Pop the switch out and check for melted wires. Get your FSM and look at the wiring diagram and start testing.
