I need everyone's help again. I am taking some horses out to Texas leaving Friday afternoon and taking the wife and kid. Of course somthing happens to the truck. My headlights started flickering. I looked at the grounds to see if any were loose, and didn't see anything. I am not sure I checked all of the grounds though. Were are all the grounds? I pulled the dash off and looked at the headlight switch, or what I thought was the switch. The electrical unit behind the light switch is what I checked. I believe that is the headlight switch, correct? My brother in law has a nice snap-on probe that he is going to bring home and go over the truck with today. If it turns out to the voltage regulator, do I have to replace the PCM? I have heard that the PCM drives the voltage regulator or they are intertwined some how. I have already done the search and this is what brought me to this point. Your help is greatly appreciated since this has a time constrant on it.

Just maybe....

I had a similar issue with my truck several years back and it turned out to be the grid heater solinoids. If the problen ever happens again, remove the two heavy leads that connect to the intake heater grids and fasten then so they can not ground out. It the problem goes away, replace the solinoid. They are sold as an assembly. What happend was one solinoid faild and was constantly activating and deactivating one grid. The grids pull enough juice you see it on the Volt gauge and the lights.

I replaced the grid heater relays about 25,000 ago. Do you think they would be doing this in that short of time?
