Before I go prying and twisting I wanted to ask the proper way to get the head light bulbs out on my '01. Suspect it has a lot to do with the blue plastic tab.

Squeeze and pull!

:D

P. S. If you mean the bulbs themselves, I believe that they just twist and pull. I can check the quads which are sitting on the floor in my office at home.

Jim-

I just checked my quads which I haven't installed yet, but removal is easy enough. Though they are aftermarket (Depo), my guess is that they function the same way. Once you remove the connector (press and pull), then you will notice a big ring which holds the bulb in place. Twist the ring 90-degrees counter-clockwise and it will come off. The bulb will then just pull out.

Before you begin do this first...

Prepare yourself for the job at hand by doing your best imitations of Gumby, then you may proceed... ...

Some guys remove the batteries to do the job at hand but I have figured out a easier way to do it. Hope this helps...

-First slip your hand between the battery and the rad support and carefully unplug the headlight(this is where the dreaded tab is).

-Twist the retaining ring off and gently pull the bulb out of the headlight.

-Replace the bulb and reinstall the retaining ring.

-Plug the wiring harness back in and your done.

Now before I re-install the wiring plug I remove the P. I. A. tab that holds the plug. I have removed that on all my 2nd gen trucks and never had it come unplugged afterwards. it does save time when you need to change the bulbs and saves your skin too. . LOL. Good luck... ..... Andy

Ok, I am going to wait a few days. I managed hang a treble hook in my hand yesterday and I think I'll wait till it feels better. Gumby I am not, so this will take some time. The fish that did this dastardly deed to me got no mercy, I ate him... . Jim
