Cummins transmission options

ctd to gm flex plate how strong?

Heard the familiar sound... turned and saw an 80's 1 Ton GMC. Asked the owner when he got out... sure enough, Cummins conversion. He was kind enough to pop the hood and there she sat, tight fit and all. It was an '88 industrial engine. Very tight fit. It was just neat seeing it.

you know its an obsession when you can tell what engine it is without seeing the truck. last year i saw an 80's crew cab dodge with a 24v in it. pretty cool. cheaper than a mega cab too. :-laf

It is pretty sad that the only way you could get a decent crew cab truck was to build one. Too bad Diaper Benz is involved in the mega cab, it would have been nice to see Chrysler do it on their own when it was still a USA company. :( I guess we needed the inovation of foreigner's to meet the market demand.

I am hoping to see someone take on an escalade or a avalanche, that would be a neat toy. Can you imagine a black smoke caddy on 22" rims? Commercial rated rims/tires of course, not the urban trendy "thump thump shoe in the clothes dryer" kind of image.

My retirement project will be an old 50's Coupe Deville rag top with a 12 valve and bone stock exterior. (if the environmentalists haven't lobbied to outlaw diesel by then). Picture that ride with a airstream camper in tow passing you up in the Rockies.
