I've just installed a BHAF on my truck, and know several fellas have been involved in making up and selling heat shields for these installations - anyone out there with one to sell?

Otherwise, guess I'll have to make up one of my own...

PM me if you can help.

TIA!

I would just put a shield on the turbo itself (like the one LarryB sells) When he was around, illflem reported good results, as far as intake temp goes, with the installation of the turbo heat shield.

Personally in the cooler months I like the BHAF injesting a little warmer air.

About what do Larry's run, cost-wise - and anyone have a pic of one installed - do they use the stock air filter mounting bolts?

Thanks for the info!

Wouldn't a turbo heat shield HOLD heat into the turbo housing?

Not so sure holding heat in the turbo would be a good thing.

I try to get as much of the exhaust / intake system as cool as possible as soon as possible beford / after combustion. Maybe I have missed something though.

Bob,

LarryB's heat shield allows plenty of room for air circulation around the turbine housing, so convection cooling of the turbo isn't really affected. It does stop radiational heating of the BHAF from the turbine housing and provides a baffle to keep the BHAF from pulling air directly from the turbine housing area.

there are many varations of a heatshield for the BHAF

Everything from furnace duct- http://www.directcon.net/drkayak/Ram/Heat Shield

To a Stainless Steal modle that doubles as a securing option as well -#ad

If you want a copy of the heatshield template PM me your E-mail address and Ill give you the template. . I am avalible for manurfactuing of the shield but I have to get them in groups of 10 for abvout $80 a piece thats Stainless Steal . By the time I mess with packing and shipping you'd be way better off just getting the template and doing it your selp or take the template to a fabrication shop.

goodluck
