Got to looking at the air intake for the turbo. Noticed that the tube from the air box was hot. Makes sense, hot engine around it next to a hot wastegate turbo. Also noticed that the line leading into the intercooler passed under the bottom radiator hose and that radiator hose was hot. That means hot air into the intercooler. Not good.
Well got to thinking, that's usually where the trouble starts. Any way, I had about 5 feet of bubble pack, tinfoil coated hot water heater insulation. So now I don't have any left. Wrapped it around the places metioned, with enough clearance to ensure no fire etc.
I don't have a pyro (yet) but the water temp never passes the 90 C mark anymore. Now I can't remember if it was on the highway or city driving (probably the later) but its cooler (duct tape isn't all that bad) and I suppose that's all that counts.
Total investment: 1. 03 Cdn.
