Heated Cloth Seats?

I see Geno's has the seat heaters. Since I could't find a Laramie I figured I wouldn't see heated seats for a very very long time.



Any one know if you can put these in the cloth seats or why you only get heated seats with leather?

You can get a Dakota with heated cloth or leather, so it shouldn't be an issue with your cloth.

I think leather seats feel colder than cloth seats. I don't know if thats the reason they only heat them or not.

I have the Rostra heaters under my cloth seats. No problems.

A tip: install the heaters with the elements facing UP. I put mine in facing down and they take forever to warm my nether regions. Awhile back, someone commented that they had installed with the elements facing out and their heats got hot FAST.

Also, I've had mine on for about 3 years now (I think), and the one on the driver side doesn't work right anymore. It works fine if the temperature is above ~30 degrees, but if it's any colder the heater won't come on. Ironic - the mornings I need it most it won't work.

Then these seat heating elements are powered by 12vdc? Any chance of the elements shorting out? I'm a bit paranoid about things like that and heating blankets especially. I once read where a heating pad was placed under the sheets of a bed where a child with enuresis slept. He was in a world of hurt when he had an event. Unfortunately the pad was placed aboved the plastic sheet.

No more chance than factory heated seats. They run 12vdc.

Good info. I think heated seats are going to be added in the near future. Wisconsin is coming into our cooler season with the cold season around the corner.

Was it simple to install the heaters? how long?

Heaters are easy to install for normal people, but since I'm abnormal it took me a couple evenings of work. I had to pull the passenger seat out in order to get the heater in under the factory cloth (can't remember why I didn't need to remove the drivers seat).

What took time for me was routing the power to the seats and mounting the switches. Like my neighbor said to me awhile back "do you do anything quickly?". Nope.

On topic: I brought them orignally for the wife and after a year I brought them for myself as well. Oo. Nice warm buns

Mr. Novak, you probably have plenty of time to get the seat warmers. I ordered some goodies from the Burnett Dairy Co-op in Grantsburg, WI. , and they said it was too warm to ship the aforementioned goods. They figured the end of this month and it will be cool enough, or not!
