When I turn on the drivers side heated seat the light flashes. Passenger side works fine. All other power functions on driver side work. Dealer says I have an open in the element. Kit to replace in my 2001 is $ 75 and two hrs labor at $78 ouch. Anyone have procedure or exeriance in fixing one of these. My mechanically functional ability is about average, I can get zipped up most of the time without difficulty. Once in awhile i rip my britches.

Seat Heater

Make sure element is bad - should be easy to check - first check plug under seat then turn on while standing outside, light should be steady on or off without you in seat. If on or off, by hand push seat bottom and see what happens id light goes on of off it probably is element.

Pull seat bottom out, 4 bolts in bottom and unplug and lift our. At this point I would swap with passenger side (just temporarly) and see what happens.

Seat bottom comes apart easily, just place on floor, 0n carpet or towel, remove plastic "j" hooks frome each sideput knee in center of bottom and pry "J" hook from rear of seat and pull skin

forward to expose heat element. R and R. Take your time putting back together to keep wrinkles to a minimum. If seat is starting to sink, the fiz is in one of the TDR Mags. This is the time for that fix.

Take your seat base out and pull the cover off and look in the foam for a broken wire. I had this happen on my 2001 and all I did was solder it back together with some silver solder. Hopefully thats all it is.

Yes most likely it is a broken wire right where the main wires enter the seat. When you pull the seat cover off you will see a wad of hot glue where the main wires are hooked to the heating element thats most likely where it is. Thats where mine was broken.
