heater controls quit working

I changed from defrost to floor heat and got two loud clicks from uner dash, and now no heat control and no output direction control. The fan still works though. any body have this problem or know exactly what happened? thanks Ray

Sounds like the blend door actuator might have locked up. There are two or three of the actuators in the system and it sounds like one of them has quit on you.

There's a TSB for our 03's that take care of this problem ~ seems many were damaged during assembly. Dealer took care of mine no problem.

mine is having the same problems, but being an 04, it doesn't seem the tsb is applicable. mine is right now at the dealer trying to get this fixed. mine goes all fan to floor 75% of the time when the defrost is selected. it was doing it this morning when i drove it to the dealer. hopefully they will get it fixed [after their first attempt failed ]

Thanks for the replies, the problem sort of fixed its self for now. No more pops but it seem a little sluggish to change. I will look into the tsb, but I am not too fond of the dealers so I may try it my self if it is not expensive

I too have this issue - tonight I found a way to get my defrost back. Turn your fan all the way off, then cycle the control. I read about somebody over on the DTR that did this and I tried it and it worked for now.



PrarieDog - which dealer did you go to and how many miles are on yours. I'm pushing 60K, and my service mgr at Lynnwood gave me the traditional blank stare of "i've never heard of that problem... . ".
