Is there a product that would be safe to add to my antifreeze that may possible plug a pin hole leak in my heater core.

I really don't want to take apart the dash yet but I also don't want to clog up my coolant passages or any thing else with some snake oil.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and keep on dieseling!

I feel for you. I had the same problem, and a stop leak didn't really work. A problem with stop-leak stuff is that they can gum up the rest of your cooling system. I ended up replacing the heater core.

If you have to use a stop-leak, I've read that ground black pepper will work for a while, and will flush out easily. I've never tried it.

stop leak

theres a product called dike from a company called conklin. its not on parts store shelves, but you may be able to find it at big trucking operations, truck shops, dealerships, service centers ect. it will plug up BIG holes, blown headgaskets, little holes and all kinds of leaks as long as it is mixed with antifreeze. take out the antifreeze, put in water, it washes out clean and starts leaking again. will not plug up cores radiators thermostats or hoses. lots of dirt track racers run it as a precaution. I use it all the time. the best stuff ever. If you cant find any local PM me and i can get you some. its usually about 8 bucks a pint and takes 1 and a half pints to do our cooling system. I have a real slight heater leak, just enough for a antifreeze smell, and im getting ready to add some myself.

Get the engine warmed up good. Dump in a couple cans of ginger, household spice. Drive it for good circulation. Good rpm's for 5 or 10 miles. Have seen it work wonders and won't plug things up like bar's leak and some of the commercial products. I have had it work for me and a couple of friends!! jps
