I'm following Joe Donnelly's heater core replacement guide and I can't seem to get the A/C box away from the firewall at all.

All of the bolts are removed and from what I can tell there is nothing holding it in place.

Are there any tricks to getting the A/C box pulled away those few inches?

Thanks.

There are the three behind the PCM on the passenger side against the firewall in the engine compartment. Then there is the b____h of one just behind the engine head against the firewall almost inline with the cylinders.
Inside you should drop the steering wheel, remove the bracket against the floor that is around the airbag control module (I forgot about this part and could not make my dash/HVAC assembly move hardly at all.
Also on the passenger side there is a bolt right against the door/windshield/dash is one bolt that really keeps the HVAC assembly in place.
Heater hoses removed? The clips on the A/C lines in/out on the firewall?

Hope this helps.

I did all that.

I finally got that ba$tard out and replaced. Now just trying to get the damn bolts lined back up in the holes.

Whoever designed it needs to be forced to replace it numerous times and then whipped for good measure.

OK, so are their any tricks for lining those 4 bolts up with the respective holes?

I have two in... the one at the bottom of the A/C canister and the one above the valve heads. Each have a few threads of the nut on them.

Thanks.

There are no tricks. I broke off one bolt last time. #@$%! I was doing it during a snow storm and got a bit impatient.

It MAY be easier if you get the drain in the drain hole first then try to get the screws in from the bottom up.

If that makes sense.

I hope I dont ever have to do that again. #@$%!#@$%!
