The Cummins comes with a block heater installed. DC charges $10 for the cord as a factory option or $30-40 from the dealer. :-{}
Some say it's not necessary to plug in unless the temp is going to be below -20 F. All I know is that my truck warms up faster if it's been plugged in all night when the temp is below freezing.
I've read that the cord is available from cummins for about $15, but it's missing the special clips to attach to the frame. It seems to me that ty-wraps would work just as well.

On edit: Once, just to see if it would work, I started my truck at +24 F without being plugged in and without waiting for the grid heaters. It started right up.
