I have a friend who wants to give me 250 gallons of heating oil from his basement oil tank. He converted to gas. I have a 04. 5 CTD, can I use this for fuel. I used a little kero in my 98 12V and did not like how it ran. What can I do???

look in your service book. there are safe ratios for the "600" motor. i recycle filtered used oil into my fuel every once in a while. i dont do more than 3% though. thats just me.

home heating fuel and road diesel are the same thing except for the dye in the hoem heating oil... the only thing you have to watch for is DOT

The heating oil my Dad uses in the garage is the same as off highway diesel. It's actually labeled heating oil/off road diesel on the pump.

Not legal to run in a truck, but it will run just fine. It's more than likely Red... though I have seen some stuff not died.

Just a word of caution. Some homes are heated with K1 Kerosene. Please make sure that is #2 heating oil, not #1. Big difference.

Run about 200 of it through... leave the last bit in ther because IT WILL HAVE water, rust, sediment in it... I have a buddy who found this out the hard way... .
