I've done my searches and have been unable to find what I'm looking for. The closest thing I have seen is the Gem Top commercial outfitter. I know there are a few smaller companies making what I'm interested in because I've seen them on the road.

I'm interested in a heavy duty camper shell with the rear doors which also flip up in one piece. It needs to be tall enough to fit a large ATV (Kawasaki Prairie 700).

I thought there was a company in Reno making these but I can't find 'em anywhere. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Koenig makes a lot of commercial boxes. You might check with them. The telephone companies also have a topper with a rear door that opens wide. I don't know the manufacturer though.

I had the ARE Commercial toppers before I recently purchased my new Unicover topper with two doors in the back that open outwards. ARE and Unicover both make a topper with one door that flips up. I am actually selling my last topper that was 6" above cab height but it fit the 2nd gen SB and it has the flip up rear door. Most of these topper companies describe these rear flip ups as "farrier" doors. I would actually look at getting the double door version instead of the single rear flip up type as wind is a killer on the single door when it is up. They both give the same amount of workable space when open

Here is a pic of my old topper with a flip up on my 2nd gen. Sorry about the less than good pic, it is the only one I had. This topper was 6" above cab height.

I've had a Gemtop since 2000. They were warranted for life until I needed something fixed on it. It seems some company in the great state of Texas bought the company and doesn't give a s*** about warranties or the quallity of their products. It's only good for a year now, and you have to pay for shipping. I wouldn't recommend the Gemtop to anybody (not even a For* driver). ;)

Thanks for the info and PMs guys. Still not seeing what I'm looking for. I want to retain the big side windows too and don't need any of the commercial storage space. Next time I see one going I'm going to take a pic. They one I saw looks heavy duty and made from either steel or heavy aluminum. It had the dual side by side doors in which the entire back section also flipped up in one piece. It was probably a custom job and I'll never see it again. I did see it when I was in Reno and it looked like a local Reno truck, for whatever that's worth. Anyway, I guess I'll keep looking. Thanks again.

Caravan Camper

Scootergmc,

Call Caravan Camper Mfg in Reno, NV @ 775-323-0270 and ask them to send you their catalogs. I have had several of their tops, over the years. They are the strongest thing out there and of course, the heaviest (600#). They custom mfg all of their tops per the customer's request. They are expensive but worth every penny. I wouldn't have anything else. They have people order them from the East Coast and Canada and then drive to Reno, to have them installed!

PM me if you want to see pictures of mine.

Good Luck!
