I always put one of these in my trucks because the turn signals blink fast with the trailer connected. I went to buy on for my Dodge at auto zone and they said on that new of a truck it was a dealer item. Is this true? I thought flashers were more or less universal with about three or four different models that covered most of everything.

It may look like a conventional flasher but it isn't. It may only be available frm Mopar. The OEM flasher contains integrated circuitry that tries to maintain a constant flash rate unless one of the truck's corner bulbs is gone. With a blown filament or missing bulb the flasher will flash at a much faster rate to warn of the bulb problem.

Have you tried the OEM flasher with a trailer?

I tried it with a trailer and it seemed a little fast. Not as fast as I have seen on other trucks but it was noticably faster. I guess I can live with the way it is I way just going to put a heavy duty one on there since they are so cheap.
